Martin Brown is a 1999 graduate of the
University of Tulsa College of Law, where he received the Eric B. Jensen
Award for integrity, professionalism and high academic performance, the 1998
Gardere & Wynne Environmental Law Award and a Certificate in International
and Comparative Law. Mr. Brown served as a Senior Staff member on the Tulsa
Law Journal and as President of BLSA (Black Law Students Association) at the
College of Law. Mr. Brown received both his B.A. in Political Science and
M.A. in American History from the University of Tulsa. Mr. Brown is also a
graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Graduate School of Successful Trial
Advocacy Seminar. Mr. Brown also attended the Universidad de Palermo in
Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he studied International Corporate Law and
Project Finance.
Mr. Brown’s practice focuses on venture capital/private
equity transactions, commercial real estate transactions, complex
commercial litigation, corporate and securities law, and compliance. Mr.
Brown also serves as Administrative Assistant to the Independent Auditor in
the matter Roy C. Johnson, et al. v. City of Tulsa, and Fraternal Order
of Police, Lodge No. 93, Case No.: 94-CV-39-H(M), United States District
Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma a.k.a. “The Black Officers
Coalition’s Lawsuit”.
Mr. Brown is a member of the Diversity Section of the
Oklahoma Bar Association and the Corporate Law Section of the Tulsa County
Bar Association. He is a member of the American Bar Association. He is
admitted to the State Bar of Oklahoma and State Bar of Texas. He is also
admitted into practice in all federal districts in Oklahoma. Mr. Brown is a
member of Leadership Tulsa—Class 33. He also serves as Vice President for
NOBLA (Northeastern Oklahoma Black Lawyers Association). Mr. Brown served
as a mentor and teacher for Tulsa Jobs Partnership and as a Big Brother for
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma. He also served as Chairman of the
Advisory Board for Liberty World Outreach Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma and
currently serves as a second-term Director At Large on the TU Law Alumni
Board at the College of Law. Mr. Brown was the recipient of the TU Law
Alumni Association’s Outstanding Committee Chair Award in 2004 and
Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2005. He served as the Economic Development
Chair for the Urban League’s Young Professionals Division and served as an
appointed (by Mayor Kathy Taylor) member of the City of Tulsa’s Economic
Development Commission.
